printed projects

This section features samples of my work in graphics intended for print.

Community Bikes Postcard

This started out as a project in a Photoshop class. I asked all my friends for old photos that I could try my hand at restoring, and my favorite one was of my friend's Great Uncle as an onlooker to a burst oil well near Bakersfield. It naturally evolved into a glossy, full-color postcard for a bicycle co-op in Santa Rosa. The hardest part was actually painting in the torn edge details on the paper bits. Created with Photoshop CS2.

Art Show Postcard

Moxie was known for monthly art shows featuring local artists, so if the artist didn't do their own promotional post cards, I was often tapped for the job. Created with Photoshop CS.

Green circuits coupon

This coupon was printable from the Green Circuits website, so it is both a web graphic and for print. Created with Adobe Illustrator CS2.

Craft Fair Flyer

This is the only graphic on this site not created with Photoshop or Illustrator. I was grocery shopping when I got a call begging that I drop everything and rush to the store for an emergency project. I had 45 minutes until the print shop closed and needed to create this flyer to be printed in poster size, letter size and 1/4 letter handbill size so it could be done overnight. Without my laptop, I didn't have access to my standard graphics programs, so I had to improvise and create the project on the store's computer with only the graphics available on the hard drive, online and on my thumb drive. 25 minutes later, my client was very happy with the results, and I got it to the print shop with 15 minutes to spare. The print job was complete the next morning, and I got a big hug from the store owners. It's not featured in my portfolio on the merits of how brilliant it looks, but it does show my resourcefulness and how well I can meet tough deadlines. Created with MS Word 97.

Geek Magnet

This is the tag that goes on the retail packages of the jewelry I make from computer components and machine parts. Created with Adobe Illustrator CS2.
